SKRIK sheds light on a major issue: incest.
SKRIK brings this issue into the public eye.
SKRIK is an act of resilience designed to encourage change.
INCEST is a real public health issue.
INCEST has yet to be tackled head on by politicians and the justice system.
INCEST is complex and so shocking that part of society is still in denial.

“Skrik” is the original Norwegian title of The Scream, Edvard Munch’s famous painting. In this sound - Skrik - as in the painter’s work itself, there is something distorted, chilling, like the crack of a bone. More than a sound, it is a shattering, close to the porcelain breaking. A fractured resonance that fits perfectly with Elisabeth Woronoff’s play Skrik, 60 minutes of an intensely sensory experience (visual but also sonic and atmospheric) that immerses you in the mind of a woman who has lived through incest, as she regains her memory and tries to rebuild her identity.
SURVIVAL AND RESILIENCE. Through song, theatre, and visual arts, Skrik opens a singular, erratic, and powerful window onto incest - its mechanisms of dissociation and oblivion, and the difficult path toward its recognition by justice.
—Catherine Makereel, Le Soir 9.02.2022
Between fiction and documentary, SKRIK transposes to the stage the sudden, searing flash of fragmented memories resurfacing. The piece delves into the complex reality of incestuous rape and its aftermath. Performed by six interpreters, it offers the audience a powerful experience: entering the mind of a woman, a survivor who is regaining her memory and rebuilding her identity.
